Mediaphobia is the fear of media. Sufferers would avoid watching television, reading newspapers, listen to radio, and surfing the internet. As a result, mediaphobes may feel detached from reality. It is commonly suffered by children, especially when dangerous events are mentioned in media, leading them to believe that the reality is dangerous and chaotic. Seeing deaths through the media may lead to the fear of the suffering dying at any time.

Symptoms of mediaphobia include sweating, trembling, shaking, and sense of impending doom. It is most commonly treated using cognitive-behavioral therapy and psychotherapy.
